Brown
& Ubarri occupies the fourteenth floor of the El Caribe Building
in San Juan.
Built
in 1970, the El Caribe Building is one of the few leasehold buildings in
Puerto Rico. The building was
designed by E.H. Gutiérrez, AIA, and was constructed by Bird
Construction, one of Puerto Rico’s premier construction companies.
The
east and west sides of the building are of themselves important works of
art created by the renown Cuban artist Cundo Bermúdez. Constructed of millions of mosaic tiles, the east side
depicts “Islands of the Caribbean” while the west facade reflects
“Marine Flora”.
The
El Caribe Building is across the street from the Caribe Hilton Hotel on
the east end of the island of San Juan.
It is located a short distance from the Supreme Court of Puerto
Rico and Luis Muñoz Rivera Park. It
is easily accessible to the historic Old San Juan, the banking and
business district of Hato Rey, all pier facilities and major highways.
Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport is within twenty minutes
of the building. Ample
parking is available at the Caribe Hilton Hotel.
